What Pickleball Taught Me About the Kingdom of God
What Pickleball Taught Me About the Kingdom of God
Pickleball has been taking over my Saturdays.
If you’ve played it, you know what I mean — it’s fast, it’s fun, and it brings out your inner 90-year-old athlete. But beyond the dink shots and paddle smacks, I’ve started to realize something deeper: God can use even a pickleball court to reveal His Kingdom.
Faith Is a Team Sport
Pickleball is usually played in doubles. It’s hard to win alone — just like our walk with Christ. We weren’t designed to do life in isolation. In the same way a strong pickleball team needs trust and communication, believers need fellowship, accountability, and Kingdom community.
“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” – Proverbs 27:17
Just like in a good match, we grow better when someone’s got our back, prays for us, and reminds us of who we are in Christ — even when we miss the mark (or the ball).
Every Game Has a Goal
In pickleball, the goal is simple: win the rally, score the point. But as believers, our goal isn’t a scoreboard — it’s faithfulness. We’re called to press on, endure, and finish well. Whether you’re on a court, at work, or just trying to survive school pickup lines — the goal stays the same: glorify God and advance His Kingdom.
“Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” – 1 Corinthians 10:31
Even your pickleball serve can be an act of worship when done with the right heart. Who knew?
The Gospel Isn’t Just for Sunday
One of the biggest lies Christians believe is that the Gospel lives only inside the church building. But the Kingdom of God isn’t a Sunday morning thing — it’s an everywhere thing. It’s in your living room, your office, and yes… even your pickleball game.
Whether you’re wearing a shirt that says “Jesus,” or just loving your neighbor on the court, we are always representing the Kingdom.
Play With Purpose
That’s why we created the PB&J – Pickleball & Jesus collection: to remind people that even our hobbies can reflect our hope. Whether you're hitting aces or hitting up small group, it’s okay to mix your serve with your Savior.

Stay salty. Stay silly. Stay Kingdom-minded.
And next time you step onto that pickleball court, remember: you’re playing for more than just a point — you’re playing for the One who already won it all.
